Quarantine Diaries: Day 2

16th of March 2020, Monday

State of Kandaugaga-ness

It’s the 2nd day of community quarantine. We live along a busy street that is now uncharacteristically quiet and empty for a Monday morning. Which is great news from a dust and pollution perspective. But my FB newsfeed is ablaze with running commentaries and criticisms, coupled with photos of commuters filling the streets early today. Everybody has their 2-cents worth on their FB statuses, erstwhile I contemplate on what goals I should accomplish to achieve the elusive state of ‘kandaugaga-ness’ while I’m mopping our bedroom floor and scrubbing our bathroom shower.

Not that anyone cares to know, but this is the 4th (?) time I will be help-less for an indefinite period of time. No sidekick. No Ding to my Darna. That’s why I need to ready my Wonder Woman gold cuffs and, shield, and sword. Charot. My sidekick J’s octagenarian mother fell in mid-February, and she decided to scale back into part-time employment to care for her ailing mother. I was unfazed, but I dreaded having to wake up early to prepare breakfast and packed lunches for my grade schoolers. And all of this unfolded on the eve of my birthday! For 17 school days, I had to wake up 5AM to make freshly cooked rice. Until pandemonium broke with new COVID-19 cases locally, ending the school year a week early. This was good news to me! No need to wake up early anymore since my kiddos tend to sleep in until 10AM. But it did mean that my part-time sidekick cannot cross the borders freely due to the community quarantine, and meant all household chores will have to be done by Domestic Goddess & Offsprings. So how do I achieve the State of Kandaugaga-ness?
